North Down & Ards
Adrian has been creating stunning depictions of North Down and the Ards Peninsula for many years. He became intrigued by the southern shores of Belfast Lough when he started to exhibit his work annually at the prestigious Culloden Resort & Spa near Holywood in 2009. Holywood Esplanade, Seapark, Crawfordsburn and Helen’s Bay provided an escape from city life when Adrian was completing his PhD at Queen’s University and inspired many canvases. Further exploration of the wider area south of the city introduced the young artist to the beauty of Strangford Lough and its surrounding countryside, towns and villages. Donaghadee with its famed lighthouse and Bangor’s busy marina captured Adrian’s imagination. Drawn to iconic structures, Adrian has enjoyed depicting Scrabo Tower, Mount Stewart and Ballycopeland Windmill from multiple perspectives during his documentation of the Peninsula. Although many of the pieces featured here are now sold, it is hoped viewers might gain inspiration if considering commissioning Adrian to create their own Donegal artwork.
